Children & Youth

Church School

Pre-School, Elementary, and Youth students begin with Worship at 10 am in our Sanctuary, except the first Sunday of the month, when they go to Church School first.

Nursery care is available during the Worship Service, from 9:45 - 11:15 am.

Angel

We treasure our children and youth, and we honor the unique gifts each one brings to our community.

Our Church School ministry fosters a sense of belonging and encourages love, generosity, and commitment. There is a strong sense of giving as a response to God’s love for us.

Friends and visitors are always welcome. Join us for worship, church school, and special events

Children and Worship

We welcome children of all ages in worship, and we celebrate their presence. On most Sundays, there is a lively children’s message. Following this message, young people are invited to go to their church school classes.

Children and Communion

Edwards Church has a long tradition of an open communion table. All are invited to share in this meal. We especially welcome children of all ages to this feast. The Church School program helps children understand the meaning and how to participate in the sacrament.

Infant and Toddler CareWith Grandpa

We offer quality care for our youngest children on Sunday morning. Loving child care professionals help young children develop a sense that Edwards Church is a caring and good place to be.

School Aged Children

Edwards Church School utilizes “Gather ‘Round”, a Bible story-based curriculum for all ages. This United Church of Christ curriculum incorporates social action and caring for people in need. Our young people also participate in a Chimes Choir and in art projects. We are blessed with teachers who care deeply about our children and their faith development.

Rite Teen

Our Rite Teen program, for our Middle School young people, offers a rite of passage as our children move toward adulthood. The program focuses on identifying and celebrating individual gifts, decision making, mission and prayer. Special ministry experiences and social activities are sprinkled throughout the year.

Journey to Adulthood

The Journey to Adulthood program, for our older youth, centers on a “pilgrimage” to a holy place. Planning and raising funds for this trip challenges our young people to use their gifts for our faith community and for personal growth. This program includes Confirmation.

Intergenerational Programs

We hold periodic intergenerational events, including dramatic presentations, hikes, road rallies, and trips to places like Garden in the Woods in Framingham and the Heifer Project farm in Rutland, Massachusetts.
