We listen for the word of God, and seek to understand what it means for us in our daily lives. For a sample sermon click here.
We use our creative gifts, offering music, drama, and poetry as ways to inspire and uplift.
We gather monthly to share a communion meal, to which everyone is invited.
We encourage our young people to participate fully, with opportunities to share in worship leadership, with a special message for young people, and with the invitation to receive communion.
Our worship service is held every Sunday at 10 a.m. Join us on the first Sunday of each month for the sacrament of Holy Communion. On these Sundays, our young people begin the hour in Church School, and join us later for communion. On the remaining Sundays, our young people come to worship with their families, and stay to hear a special message for them, before beginning their Church School classes. Following our morning worship, we gather in our hall for coffee and refreshments and a time for fellowship.
Music at Edwards
Music is a very important part of our worship. The entire congregation joins in the singing of hymns every Sunday. We are inspired by the piano and organ music offered by organist Mr. Don Buell. We are proud of our choir, which sings a wide variety of traditional and contemporary anthems. The choir is directed by Mr. Todd Cole.
Our choir welcomes new singers, whatever your level of experience. The choir rehearses every Sunday at 9 a.m., some Sundays after church, and some Thursday evenings at 7:15 p.m. For more information, call the church office at 877-2050.
Special Worship Events
Throughout the year, the Edwards Church community gathers for special worship services. These include:
-
An annual historical service in September, celebrating the anniversary of our church! This service typically focuses on a period in our church’s history, and features period dress and music, and dramatic reflection.
-
An outdoor service, held during the summer, with informal, creative worship and lively music.
Christmas Music Extravaganza, featuring an expanded choir and a visiting orchestra.
- Youth Sunday, with worship leadership by our Senior High youth.
- An Epiphany Service, held the first Sunday in January, which is a combined service with Plymouth and Grace Churches, the other two UCC churches in Framingham.
- Maundy Thursday Service (the Thursday before Easter, the day of Jesus’ betrayal), which includes a meal and a dramatic reenactment of the betrayal, along with the extinguishing of the lights.
- Easter Sunrise service, followed by a simple breakfast.
