When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.
Luke 5:11
- “They left everything and followed him” (That’s what the first of Jesus’ disciples did.)
- Everything around my home that has memories attached.
- Everything around my house that has a use, now or in the future.
- All the info that clutters my brain.
- All the stuff and old emails on my home computer.
- Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
All this is what comes to mind when I think of “Making Space.” I want to make space in my life figuratively and literally, but where to start? I am at the state in my life where I want to have time to do what gives me joy and peace. Life is way-too short to have unmanageable to-do lists.
In a recent sermon, Pastor Debbie spoke of “keep what gives you joy and let go of what doesn’t.” It’s a place to start for me.
There are some things in life you can delegate and there are some things it’s easier to just do it yourself. I’m at that state now. In order to have time to reflect, to pause, to breathe, I need to remove all the clutter around me and within me. This is my “making space” promise to myself.
Good and Gracious God, walk with me and take my hand. I need your creativity and guidance as I make space in my life for all there is to be. Amen.
