Edwards Church has accepted the MACUCC Green Congregations Challenge and have achieved Level 1 status. The Green Team has been working toward becoming a Level 2 Congregation and has now achieved this goal.
We have already done many things to accomplish this. In the area of energy usage, we have installed solar panels, improved insulation and installed energy efficient windows and lighting in most of our buildings. Our final achievement to reach this goal is receiving all of our electricity needs through renewable sources. To achieve this, Edwards is pursuing switching our energy source provider for our electricity usage (over and above what our solar panels provide) to a sustainable energy company. We are looking at changing our energy source provider from Eversource to CleanChoice Energy. Eversource will still provide delivery of our electricity and will send our bill but our electricity will now come from wind and solar only.
This program is also available for homes. If you haven’t looked into this and would like to be more sustainable in your use of electricity, you can contact CleanChoice Energy at cleanchoiceenergy.com. The rate per kWh for sustainable energy is sometimes a little more than the electricity sourced through Eversource but the impact on the environment far outweighs this difference. Please join us in our endeavor to create a Green world.
