Kermit always votes!
It’s easy to remember that there is an election coming up this November, but sometimes local elections, primaries, etc. don’t get the attention they deserve.
Now is a great time to make the pledge to be a “Creation Care” voter. The Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ is encouraging all of us to consider taking the Creation Care Voter Pledge. This pledge simply states that “I pledge to be a consistent voter, and I will always prioritize caring for God’s creation in how I vote.” To sign the pledge you can go to this link, sponsored by the Environmental Voter Project. Once you sign you will receive reminders of your pledge to vote in every election, not just the big ones.
In Framingham, keep in mind that there will also be a local ballot issue, Question 3, which would allow Framingham to adopt the Community Preservation Act. The Green Team urges you to find out more about this Act and how it could support community housing, outdoor recreation, historical preservation, and our natural resources for a very modest property tax increase with exclusions for low-income owners. This is an opportunity to care for creation right here in our backyard. If you want to help pass this ballot question by volunteering, or hosting a sign in your yard, please email Mary Memmott or call her.
