Chat, Pray, Love

October 31, 2020 by Rick Seaholm

So many events going on and you’re invited to all of it! Contact the church office to gain access.

Sunday Morning Worship
Sundays at 10:00am
Join us for worship every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. We will send out a virtual bulletin each Sunday morning for anyone who would like to follow along with the readings and song lyrics. Stick around after the service for small-group “Virtual Coffee Hour.”

Sunday School with Ms. Myrna and Karen Nell
Sundays at 11:30am
During this special time immediately following worship, the children will be able to visit with their teacher and pastor for stories, songs, prayers and activities. They will have a chance to greet their church friends and Sunday School classmates.

Absorbing the Warmth of Community and the Sun
Mondays at noon in a sunny spot on our campus
As we move into cooler weather and shorter days, it feels important to establish habits of bundling up and getting outside and seeing one another safely! So every Monday at noon, we will offer a prayer gathering, outdoors, masked and safely distanced. We will gather in a circle in the sunniest spot on our campus for a short (15-20 minute) time of prayer, poetry, and reflection. When the weather gets colder, we will have a propane fire pit to keep us warm. Bring a chair to sit on (we’ll have a few extras if you need one), wear warm clothes and a mask, and enjoy the warmth of community and absorb a little sunshine. If it’s raining or snowing, we will not gather; cold will not stop us!

Book Group with Karen Nell Smith
Mondays at 4:00pm
You’re welcome to join the group at any times as we read See No Stranger: A Memoir and Manifesto of Revolutionary Love by Valarie Kaur. “Kaur shares personal reflections as the basis for a practical guide to changing the world, a synthesis of wisdom, a chronicle of personal and communal history—all joined together by a story of awakening. Revolutionary love is medicine for our times. It just might be our best chance for our collective future.” (from https://valariekaur.com/see-no-stranger/).The group discusses one chapter each week, with time for conversation, reflection and prayer along the way. Contact Karen Nell at choresis@comcast.net for more info.

Lunch Bunch with Debbie
First and third Wednesdays at noon (11/4 and 11/18)
Check in with your friends at lunchtime. There will be time for check-in, reflection, and prayers. (If you need to phone in, dial 1-646-558-8656, meeting ID 789 303 975#).

Bible Study with Debbie
Second and Fourth Wednesdays at 4:30pm (11/11 and 11/25)
We have just begun the study of the Gospel According to Mark. It’s short, dramatic, and quickly gets to questions at the heart of our faith. It’s a great time to join in! No experience or expertise needed!

Dessert and Discussion
Second and Fourth Wednesdays at 7:30pm (11/11 and 11/25)
This group will meet via Zoom to make connections and enjoy loosely guided conversation about how we’re coping during the pandemic. Everyone is welcome to participate, with a special invitation to people who work during the day and are unable  to attend Lunch Bunch and other programming.

“Flowers and Fluff of Hope and Healing“ with Fran Bogle
Thursdays at 1:00pm
This group begins with nature photos as a jumping off place for people to share stories and prayers. Participants are welcome to share their own photos and prayer moments connected to nature. Email Fran (fbog@aol.com) if you would like to join.

Music Appreciation with Rick
Thursdays at 6:30pm
During this weekly “class,” Rick shares a score study mindfulness practice he has developed over the years. There are a variety of approachable elements about music history and theory. No prior knowledge is required, though the class will be interesting for people with lots of musical experience.

Bible Study with Karen Nell Smith
Fridays at 4:00pm
All are welcome to join us in this continuation of our Sunday morning Bible Study group. Each week we gather to check in with each other, read the scripture for the upcoming Sunday morning service, reflect, share and pray. Please email Karen Nell (choresis@comcast.net) for an invitation to join the group.
