On Saturday, February 27, a group of about twenty-five people gathered on Zoom to learn to make origami birds with Rick Seaholm. There was a lot of information to cover in one afternoon, and none of us have mastered the art form yet. We have produced some videos with very slow instruction on how to make “simple bird,” “standing bird,” and the classic origami crane. We invite everyone to make as many origami birds as you can between now and holy week. We will use our colorful creations to install an altarscape in our sanctuary for Easter. Contact nicola@edwardschurch.org if you need origami paper.
Friends of all ages are welcome to join Rick Seaholm and learn how to make Origami birds as part of our Lenten theme, “Nesting, Singing, Soaring.” We will decorate the sanctuary with our creations for Easter. Rick loves learning origami as creative physical therapy for Parkinson’s disease. Needless to say, this tech nerd is very excited about creating a two-camera studio set-up to lead the class! The class will be recorded for anyone who isn’t able to attend live. Please email Nicola by Saturday morning if you need some paper. Rick recommends setting up your workspace in a well-lit area with a nice flat surface to work on. It can also be helpful if you have a bone folder, or any handheld hard-edged tool like a ruler or even a stiff credit card to help make nice neat creases.
