This summer, we were able to harvest two big bouquets of basil and rosemary to give to A Place to Turn for their fresh produce food pantry. Now herbs are offered to anyone who needs them!
In the middle of our summer heat wave, we also delivered twenty water bottles full of toiletries and safety items to Turning Point Shelter in
Framingham. A big thank you to all our Christian Explorers who helped to tend the herb gardens this summer, and to those who helped fill the water bottles at our spring Make a Splash event.
Here are some activities for Christian Explorers in September…
- Blessing of the Animals. Meow! Woof! Bring your pet for our annual Blessing of the Animals service on Sunday,
September 11.
- A Birthday Party for Edwards Church! Mark your calendar
for Sunday, September 11 after worship, when you’re
invited to a party in celebration of the 195th birthday of
Edwards Church. As a birthday present to the church, we’re
collecting donations toward an audio-visual technology upgrade for our sanctuary, so that we can improve the virtual connections that have strengthened our faith community over the last few years. Christian Explorers will receive a small church donation box to each make a donation of 195 pennies (or more!). Watch for more details in weekly Edwards emails and come join the fun! - Counting our pennies. It’s time to count the coins in the indoor and outdoor penny jars. We’ll add our contribution to Edwards Church’s September special offering for Sunrise School in Kenya, sending our love to children with autism there to whom we sent the beautiful quilts we made last winter.
• On the pray ground. This month, we continue to worship on the Pray Ground where there’s always a message, a craft and a snack. Christian Explorers help during the service by lighting the candle on the altarscape and collecting the offering each Sunday. After the service, you can climb up into the tree house!
