The JLA Team has been considering ways to help some of the more vulnerable organizations we sponsor now, rather than waiting until the end of the year. It was decided we should send some of that money to the following groups to help defray a possible lack of funding from the Federal Government or to fund additional expenses they might incur from new policies. These organizations are listed below:
A Place to Turn: $500 – A food pantry with a considerable increase in the number of clients they are serving.
Metrowest Legal Services: $500 – They help those who cannot afford an attorney to assist with immigration, elder law, government benefits, family law, school and student rights, and housing.
In addition to these funds being sent, our congregation has generously contributed through our Special Offering to the following organizations:
One Great Hour of Sharing: $900
If you have any questions about this, would like more information about JLA, or would like to become a member of our team, please let one of us know. We welcome new members and inquiries of any kind.
At April’s meeting we discussed again supporting the FSU summer fresh produce program through First Parish in Framingham. A few of us attended the LGBT+ Task Force monthly dinner in Worcester on April 14 and facilitated our Palm Sunday event with El Toque del Maestro. We also hosted a meeting of Women Leaders of New England at Edwards Church on April 26 and provided greeting and coffee services.
Respectfully submitted,
The JLA Team (Heather Gonzalez, Fran Bogle, Grace Gamez, Peggy Harrison, Cindy Sweeney, Ronda Yeomans)
