We are offering two opportunities to help our local and worldwide communities this month.
The first, beginning on October 5, is our annual Neighbors in Need offering that supports ministries of justice and compassion. One-third of the offering will be given to the Council for American Indian Ministries, and the remaining two-thirds will support UCC justice ministries. In 2025, the Neighbors in Need offering supported 26 grant recipients across the UCC who were engaged in projects of direct service and advocacy.
The second offering, for the remainder of the month, is 1,000 boxes of pasta to support A Place to Turn food pantry. They have increased their client participants in the last year to serving around 1,000 people a month. APTT indicated earlier this year that one of the things they needed to resupply each month was pasta – they distribute around 1,000 boxes each month. Several churches in our area have selected a month to meet this need and Edwards selected October. We are hoping to have the youth build a “tower” in the sanctuary as we collect our boxes. It will be fun to watch our tower grow.
