“For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”–Matthew 18:20
Nourishing community has been meaningful conversations at Edwards Church. Over the years there have been settings designed for dialogue, usually during Lent. Sacred conversations are important to me to listen and be heard in a group.
The Monday Prayer Group started during Covid. We met outside so we could gather safely at noon, for a few minutes. The group weathered the cold and heat to connect and reflect. The discussions evolved into scripture, a book and now topics so we stayed longer and this winter moved inside.
The current theme is setting a table for humanity. When setting a table for humanity, what place card would be invited? Integrity was selected as a word to add to the table. After talking about it from different perspectives it does not become cut and dry.
It is like Bible Study. There could be three versions of the Bible and after hearing the passage translated differently it sometimes changes the meaning of what Jesus was trying to say. We are exploring how choosing words is important and can be misinterpreted.
The Monday group decided we would call this reflecting A Deeper Dive. Join us in preparing this unconventional table.
May we find new ways to hear the Word of God. Amen
