Nourishing Community and Myself at the Same Time
Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.–Matthew 25:40 (partial)
As many of you know, I have been coordinating the food pickup for Casa for quite awhile now. What started as a way to help Debbie by taking one thing off her plate, has become one of my favorite things to do.
This project has grown as the number of mouths they are feeding continues to grow. At times that has made it challenging finding enough folks to help out, because I went from a 4-person crew to an 8-person crew overnight! Now I have a pretty solid team, and new volunteers are being added all the time!
Witnessing how so many loving, caring folks are willing to pitch in and help out is SO rewarding and uplifting for me. One time I was able to help with the distribution side of things. Seeing people receive the food and being able to show them that I care is life affirming.
We are all in this together. And when we combine our skills, abilities and availability, we are able to do great things!
Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us the ability to be your hands and heart in the world. May we continue show up for those in need in whatever way we are able.
