Go, eat your bread with joy, And drink your wine with a merry heart; For God has already accepted your works. –Ecclesiastes 9:7-9

For my father, cookies are the bread that he eats with joy. A few years ago, my daughter Amelia made some chocolate crinkle cookies and mailed them to him. She did not know that these were one of his favorite cookies, and the recipe she found was just like what his mother, her great-grandmother, used to make in the 1950s. Now she mails them several times a year, or brings them when we visit, and they always bring him joy.

May we all find joy in our food and drink, and give thanks to God for good food to share!
