When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my lambs.’ A second time he said to him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Tend my sheep.’ He said to him the third time, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, ‘Do you love me?’ And he said to him, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.–John 21:15-17
In recent years, Willie has joined with the choir to sing this anthem that he wrote. It’s a fun and lively one. Enjoy listening to it!
Feed My Sheep
©2006 by Willie Sordillo
Chorus:
You got to feed my sheep (4 times)
If you really love me
You got to listen to me
And feed my sheep
Now Jesus told the fishers
Go on and cast your nets
They said we fished all night
And we ain’t caught nothin’ yet
He said, “Try the right side”
And you know they tried once more
Net so full
They had to haul it to the shore
Chorus
And when they came ashore
They saw the fire there
The net so full and yet
It didn’t have a tear
“Bring me some fish
And we’ll cook it with some bread
You don’t remember me
‘Cause I’m raised from the dead”
Chorus
And when they finished breakfast
Jesus said to Pete
“Tell me now, Simon
Do you love me more than these?”
Peter now knew
It was the Son of Man
Who told him three times
“You got to feed my lambs”
Chorus
May we live our love for the Good Shepherd by feeding one another. Amen.
