My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast, and my mouth praises you with joyful lips–Psalm 63:5

Did you know that almost every cuisine in the world features some version of a dumpling? There’s something universally beloved about wrapping a mixture of meat, cheese, or veggies in dough and then either frying or steaming it. My partner and I decided to make a project out of this fun fact shortly after moving in together. In less than six months we made about seven different types of dumplings, including ravioli, pierogi, samosas, and more. Different friends joined in the fun along the way, some sharing family recipes and others helping us try making something entirely new. Every dumpling night was filled with laughter, connection, and delicious food. Through them, I learned the meaning and value of nourishing community – literally.

God, help us to remember that nourishing our bodies often presents opportunities to nourish our minds, spirits, and relationships as well. May we see sacredness in the simple act of gathering together to share a home-cooked meal.
