What are we doing?
The March meeting of Justice and Love in Action took place on March 4 with what has become our traditional potluck dinner and catch up.
March Events
The Iftar on March 2 was smaller than usual mainly because of the Jewish Holiday of Purim and the rescheduling due to the weather. The speakers were wonderful and inspiring.
On March 8, JLA hosted around 60 people at the vegan soup and sourdough bread supper for community helper and activists. There were also many very delicious desserts. Metrowest Sings Out led the group in a couple of songs. A good time was had by all.
Upcoming Events
JLA will host the coffee hour after the Palm Sunday service and the parade with the pony. We will be joined by congregations from the Brazilian Assemblies of God and El Toque del Maestro. Participants are invited to bring instruments and / or noise makers for the walk. We will also pull wagons full of pasta.
JLA will host a tea and fellowship hour after church on a quarterly basis. The first will be April 26 and Karen Nell Smith will share reflections on Singing for Justice!, with music from Minnesota.
Other Business
It was decided to send $500 to support the Juneteenth celebration to Framingham Community Church and another $500 to Out Metrowest to sponsor their trivia night at Framingham High School. Edwards will have a team participating at trivia night. (For more information, see Announcements, Trivia Team Forming.)
CHAMPS will have a table at the Earth Day event, and they are continuing to have letters published in support of Environmental Justice. The children are participating in a national art project for UCC Climate Hope. They are looking for more tabling opportunities and Debbie created a page on our website for our local chapter.
They also hosted a postcard writing afternoon.
