What are we doing?
The April meeting of Justice and Love in Action took place on April 4 with what has become our traditional potluck dinner and catch up.
Debbie led us in a beginning prayer.
We discussed adding new members.
April / March Events Recap
The Palm Sunday after church palm parade was fun. El Toque joined us for the parade and for refreshments after. They brought about 100 boxes of pasta to help with our pasta drive for A Place to Turn. The Brazilian Assemblies of God church that worships in Edwards Hall on Sundays joined us as well for the parade.
A Place to Turn came to the church on April 1 to pick up around 1,200 boxes of pasta.
Upcoming Events
JLA will host a tea and coffee hour after church on a quarterly basis. The first will be on April 26 and Karen Nell Smith will share reflections on Singing for Justice!, music from Minnesota.
OUT Metrowest will host a trivia night at Framingham High School on May 1. Edwards Church will have a team of 8 people participating.
Other Business
Discussed ways to help with a world at war and support for mothers and children in Palestine and Iran. Ideas include an after-church discussion, postcards, looking into the UCC Just Peace program, deeper discussion on restorative justice, and a Just Peace Players restorative justice circle.
June 20 is Juneteenth celebration.
Discussed a 200th Anniversary community service project.
CHAMPS will have a table at the Earth Day event on April 25; they are continuing to have letters published in support of Environmental Justice.
