A New Kind of Garden
This year, instead of our herb garden, our Christian Explorers will plant and tend a Three Sisters Garden.
We are drawing inspiration from Native Americans in our area, who plant corn, beans, and squash together in mounds. The corn stalks provide a trellis for the beans to climb. The beans provide nitrogen for the soil. The squash protects the soil and keeps it moist. The garden celebrates the web of creation. It also points us to the gift of diversity in community.
