Christian Explorers – September

August 31, 2026 by Alexis Ortiz

The Three Sisters are Intertwining!

This year, instead of our herb garden, our Christian Explorers have planted our own version of a Three Sisters Garden. We are drawing inspiration from Native Americans in our area, who plant corn, beans, and squash together in mounds. The corn stalks provide a trellis for the beans to climb. The bean provide nitrogen for the soil.

The squash protects the soil and keeps it moist.

If you haven’t seen it yet, please take a look. The beans are climbing on the corn!

Joanie is working to provide a little extra encouragement to the squash. It’s not perfect, and it is a beautiful reminder of the web of creation and the gift of diversity in community.

A New Year of Youth Spiritual Exploration

Last year, we began something new, in collaboration with Agape Spiritual Community. Once a month, our middle and high school young people gathered for snacks or a meal and conversation about faith and spirituality, friendship and community. From those gatherings, two young people chose to be confirmed: Celia Whiteman and Larkin Whitehurst.

We hope to continue the program this year! Watch for more details.

Opportunities for Service

Saturday, September 12 – 10 am at the CRT Entrance on School Street, Framingham

Every fall, an intergenerational group of church bicyclists gathers for a fundraising bike ride. We pick a safe and beautiful bike path to ride on, and we choose a route with options for shorter or longer rides. This year we will ride to support A Place to Turn Food Panty. Join us at the entrance to the Cochituate Rail Trail (at the old fire station on School Street in Framingham) – we will bike to Natick and back, then we’ll walk down the block for ice cream at the Wagon Creamery!
