Climate Hope Affiliates Metrowest Project “CHAMP”

- We are people of faith and conscience united in our effort to take effective action to build a hopeful and just climate future.
- We are part of the national Climate Hope Affiliates program sponsored by the United Church of Christ
- We believe hope and action go hand-in-hand in creating a more just and sustainable world.
- As people of faith and conscience, we find strength in coming together with a common calling to act.
- You are invited to join us!
Who should join us – no church membership required
- Those who believe we can accomplish more together than on our own
- Those who believe the urgency and size of the crises before us require that Congress act accordingly.
- Those who believe that in order for our government to act we must act. We have the power to make a difference!
Our commitment to our members
- To turn individual grief and feelings of powerlessness into collective purpose and action.
- To provide a structure of support month in and month out through our meetings and our national network of volunteer chapters.
- To empower all members to see themselves as community leaders making a vital difference.
Current Meeting Schedule and Action Focus (2026)
We meet one Saturday afternoon and one Monday evening a month. In-person meetings are the norm, but online/zoom attendance is always offered. The national zoom meeting with powerful speakers on climate and environmental justice is on Saturday afternoons – we watch and respond to the speakers together, but this is always recorded for those who can’t make it.
Currently we are working with chapters across the country to defend the EPA and its budget for FY2026. Our national action goals are updated regularly here. We are organizing to meet with our Congresspeople and Senators, write letters-to-the editor and op/ed pieces, and share hope and action steps in our communities. We have been very successful with getting letters published, in papers from the Metrowest Daily News to the Boston Globe – you can read some of our efforts here. Our local team has nine members, with most of us from Edwards Church, but not all. New members are always welcome and do not need to be a member of a faith community.
